Residents, businesses, and organizations are encouraged to search the Orange County Clerk's Unclaimed Checks List to see if they are owed money. The current list contains more than 9,100 uncashed checks, with amounts ranging from 1 cent to $10,000. These checks include vendor payments, refunds, restitution, and cash bonds. Many were never cashed because recipients moved without leaving a forwarding address or simply forgot about them.

Those who find their name on the list have until September 1, 2026, to submit a claim. Under Florida law, any money not claimed by the deadline will be forfeited and deposited into the Clerk's Fine and Forfeiture Fund.

"Our customers deserve to receive the money that is rightly theirs," said Orange County Clerk of Courts Tiffany Moore Russell. "That is why every year we go above and beyond to spread the word about our unclaimed checks list."

The Clerk's Office also reminds anyone who is owed restitution from an Orange County court case to notify the office of any address changes to ensure future payments are received without delay.

If you believe the Clerk's Office is holding a check that belongs to you, follow the instructions on the website to submit your claim before the September 1st deadline.
