NID Submits State Infrastructure Grant

Updated: Aug 8, 2020

The NID along with Orange County staff submitted an $8.5 million grant application to Florida’s Department of Economic Opportunity for wastewater (gravity sewer) upgrades on North Pine Hills Road. The grant is a Governor’s discretionary apportionment named the Florida Jobs Growth Grant. It focuses program awards on capital/infrastructure projects that generate a substantial number of jobs over a several year period. The agency will be able to provide $40 million for projects that focus on rapidly developing a highly-skilled workforce and on infrastructure initiatives that attract businesses, create jobs and promote economic growth.

Applications are currently under review in the Governor’s office. Proposals are reviewed by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) and Enterprise Florida, Inc. (EFI) and chosen by the Governor to meet the demand for workforce or infrastructure needs in the community they are awarded to.
